2012 Masters Golf Tournament Draws Tourists

THURSDAY, 19 JANUARY 2012

Sports tourism leader, Sports Traveler, is reporting a steep rise in demand from leisure travelers purchasing travel packages to the 2012 Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. The company has expanded their selection of travel options to include multiple hotels in the city of Augusta and private homes available for rental located in close proximity of the legendary Augusta National Golf Course. Additionally, the company is booking many more tee times at some of the areas finest local courses for their package travelers choosing to stay the entire Masters Week in Augusta.

"The 2012 Masters Golf Tournament takes place during Easter Week and, although this has slightly decreased our corporate business, we have seen a spike in leisure travel for this event", said Sports Traveler President Anbritt Stengele. "Many people are looking for a family friendly, sports related trip during the Easter holiday and the Masters is a great fit for them." Stengele added that because of the Easter Sunday holiday, Masters tickets will be at their lowest for both Saturday and Sunday of the Tournament.

Sports Traveler is advising travelers seeking shorter stays during the tournament to reserve hotel packages that include lodging from two to four nights, tickets to the Masters Tournament, course transfers and some meals. For those taking in the entire Masters Week, the best value is a private home rental package that can be customized to suit anyone from budget-minded travelers to those with luxury tastes for private car transfers and personal in-home chef service. Additionally, Sports Traveler is offering hospitality club access into two of the most exclusive Masters clubs, the 1018 Club and the Lodge on Heath. Both clubs feature daily unlimited upscale food service and top shelf liquor served in a country club atmosphere with additional amenities including massages, live entertainment, and HD TV's.

The 2012 Masters Golf Tournament will be held April 2nd through April 8th at the Augusta National Golf Course in Augusta, Georgia.
