Runners have their marathons. Now, golfers can have their marathon, too. The Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center (MSRPAC) on June 14 is hosting a 100-hole golf marathon, the first event of its kind in Riverside. The marathon will be at the prestigious, private Victoria Club and will help support the animals awaiting adoption at the Pet Adoption Center (formerly Riverside Humane Society).
This is no ordinary golf tournament. It’s a fast-paced, 100 holes of golf played as a personal best-ball scramble. That’s 50 holes, 2 balls per hole…100 holes. And a lot of “Fore” reverberating across the course.
“If you love dogs and cats and love to golf, this is the perfect event for you - this event was made for you,” says Zee Beard, chairwoman of the marathon. “Non-golfers can help the animals, as well, by sponsoring golfers.”
The day starts with breakfast at 7:30 and concludes at 5:00 with a well-deserved buffet dinner, prizes and more. In between is the marathon on the gorgeous Victoria Club Golf Course with golf carts, balls, lunch, snacks and beverages provided. There will be hole-in-one cash prizes, a golf vacation raffle, and other fabulous prizes.
