Medal Play Golf Tour Terra Lago Results

THURSDAY, 11 FEBRUARY 2010
Submitted By: Mariangela Silvestre

The Medal Play Golf Tour got underway with its inaugural event this past weekend at the well conditioned Golf Club at Terra Lago in Indio. Players were treated to near perfect weather, great course conditions, good competition and a great test of golf to start the season.

Players arrived early to prepare for what looks like a very competitive season. Jay Rein shook off any pre-tournament jitters to post an impressive 81 net 74 after a double bogey start on the first hole. Brian Curci finished 2 shots back and Daniel Hernandez took 3rd place honors.

James Baker had a solid round of 89 net 74 in the B Flight to take the winners circle in his very first competitive golf event. Julian Hernandez placed second and Thomas Tennison was 3rd.

The Senior division proved to be very competitive with Lee Woodard edging out Thomas Vail for the title in Senior D Flight on a scorecard playoff. Rick Lehman was only a shot back for third place honors.

Senior E Flight also had a scorecard playoff for the title with Anthony Vitale edging out Bob Costa. Tom Estimo had a solid day finishing in third place only a shot back. Virgil Mink took the title in F Flight to start his season strong over runner up Michael Tocchini.

“There was a lot of excitement and great competition on the course today” said tour director Blane Freytag. “The competition will only get stronger as the tour continues to grow” he added. “Today was a huge success!”
