Maddux-Harmon Invitational at Spanish Trail

LAS VEGAS – Spanish Trail Golf and Country Club has been selected as the host site for the 2008 Maddux-Harmon Celebrity Invitational. The two-day tournament, hosted by Greg Maddux and Butch Harmon, will take place at the 27-hole championship course on October 20th and 21st. Now in its eighth year, the event has consistently yielded robust celebrity participation with the proceeds benefiting the Maddux Foundation. Since 2001, the Maddux-Harmon Celebrity Invitational has raised over $850,000 for The Maddux Foundation and this year looks to surpass the $1 million mark. Through this event, the Foundation has helped support such charities as SafeNest (battered women's shelter), Candlelighters (childhood cancer), and Child Haven (shelter for abused and neglected children), among other charities.
Dominic Guzzo, Spanish Trail's General Manager, shares, "We are honored to have been selected to host this year's event, especially since it is the home course of Greg Maddux. We are also happy to have the event play on our newly renovated Canyon Golf Course. After a year of creating dust in Greg's backyard, we are delighted to showcase the renovated course at this year's event. The work of the Maddux Foundation is important to the community and our members are pleased to open up their club to assist with fundraising efforts for The Maddux Foundation and support Greg, one of their fellow members."
The event features two days of golf, a clinic with Butch Harmon, an ultimate shot derby, and a bevy of celebrity participants. Among the celebrities who have participated in the past are Ray Romano, Barry Bonds, Pete Sampras, Mark McGuire, Kenny G, Luke Wilson, and local favorites like Natalie Gulbis and Lon Kruger.
Harmon explains, "Going into our eighth year of this event, I am extremely proud of the monies we have raised for our chosen charities and to partner with the Maddux Foundation. I am pleased to lend my name to the efforts of this organization and to this event."

About Greg Maddux and the Maddux Foundation:
