Local Residents Start Campaign to Save Golf Course
MONDAY, 25 FEBRUARY 2008
A local resident started a campaign to save the Dauphin Highlands Golf Course located in Swatara Township. Several signs depicting the words “Help Save Dauphin Highlands” were seen in front yards last Tuesday, February 19.
The Dauphin Highland Golf Course is currently dealing with financial troubles after having over $10 million in debt. It is owned and operated by the county government, specifically the Dauphin County General Authority.
According to reports, the said government body received a proposal from a group or someone who is interested in purchasing the 230-acre property and converting it into a retail site.
Upon hearing the news, local residents began sending emails to local authorities to express their concern about the course’s future.
