The Chennault Park Golf Course, located at Monroe, Los Angeles, is one of the golf courses that took the plunge on modernization by installing their very own Global Positioning System (GPS) units.
The devices have been installed in the course’s golf carts so that players can find out how far they are from the hole.
According to city golf director Michael Nugent, aside from determining their distance from the hole, golfers may also use the said equipment to order food and drinks from the shop.
Players who wish to use the cart with GPS unit are required to pay $5 deposit before the game starts and may use the device for free at the first three holes of the round. Golfers also have the option to continuously use or decline the GPS device after the free service.
