Woden Community Council Opposes Golf Course Sale
WEDNESDAY, 31 OCTOBER 2007
The local residents are adamantly opposing any sale proposals that entail housing development projects on the Federal Golf Course, according to the Woden Community Council.
The Red Hill Club has revealed earlier their plans to sell four hectares of the course to fund the drought-proofing of the greens as well as setting up of news dams for irrigation. However, the said sale requires an amendment to the Territory Plan as well as the approval of the Legislative Assembly.
Meanwhile, Red Hill Club’s plans were faced with strong oppositions from the Woden Community Council who represents the local residents.
Woden Community Council’s David Menzel claimed that the sale of the course may return about $50 million in profits – a statement denied by the Federal Golf Course spokesperson.
