Award Winning Course Gets New Look
SATURDAY, 29 SEPTEMBER 2007
Big Island's award winning golf course Mauna Kea will soon be sporting a new look. Spearheading the course's redesign project is world class designer, Rees Jones.
Coincidentally, Jones' father is the course's original architect. The course is set to reopen come fall of next year.
According to a new release by Mauna Kea the redesign project would include replacement of the course's green, tees, fairways and rough with new hybrid turfs, which can be suitable all skill levels.
The release also reveals that the bunkers will be restored to their original look and the greens will be rebuilt according to USGA standards without affecting their current strategy.
The Mauna Kea Golf Course first opened in 1964 and has gained popularity worldwide due to its signature oceanfront No. 3 hole.
