Golf Technology Makes Woods Great, Says O'Grady
WEDNESDAY, 27 JUNE 2007
Former PGA player Mac O'Grady has said that golf technology makes Tiger Woods, the number one golf player in the world, great. Woods is a three-time PGA champion. He also won the Masters Champion four times.
O'Grady, a winner of two PGA tournaments from 1983-89, described Woods as the worst driver to win the Masters. He explained that the change from a V-shape to a box shape in the drivers' grooves make golfers hit the ball far-off than usual, and this is why Woods can hit on the green. O'Grady likens it to steroids.
O'Grady has done research on golf swing for 23 years. He said that development in golf technology has improved the performance of golf players. O'Grady cited the development in clubs and balls, which he says, have removed curve problems. "The degree of athleticism has changed," he said. "What was humanly impossible is now technologically possible." O'Grady plans to turn his golf research into a book.
