LPGA to Open Doors for Amateurs
TUESDAY, 23 JANUARY 2007
The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has recently announced that they are now offering a sponsor exemption to the US Women's Amateur champion if the event "is staged in her home state." However, the exemption is only granted if the amateur champion is still an amateur at the time of the event, and that the offer would not lessen playing opportunities for LPGA players.
Kimberly Kim of Hawaii will be the first to avail of this exemption when she plays at the SBS Open at the Turtle Bay and Fields Open in her home state next month.
Find out more about this new development at the LPGA by visiting their website at www.lpga.com.
