LPGA's Nancy Scranton Becomes Humana Ambassador
WEDNESDAY, 20 DECEMBER 2006
LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced Monday that three-time LPGA champion Nancy Scranton has signed an agreement to become a spokesperson for the company, broadening Humana's presence in the individual health insurance market and creating recognition for Humana across the Ladies Professional Golf Association audience.
Scranton will participate in several golf-related programs directed at sales professionals and business leaders. She will provide insights on balancing demanding personal and professional life and making important health decisions for a family, delivering on Humana's brand promise of "Guidance when you need it most" in a personalized setting. Tips on networking and running a small business will also be shared. Scranton will wear a Humana visor while participating in LPGA events.
"Nancy is, herself, a Humana convert, so it's a wonderful fit," says Tod Zacharias, president of HumanaOne, the company's line of individual health insurance plans. "She learned of our health plans through our PGA TOUR relationship, identified the opportunity for significant savings and benefits, and switched to HumanaOne coverage for her family. Even better, Nancy's lifestyle is like many of our potential members - female, busy, and responsible for her family's health benefits. We think she'll make a strong connection, especially with other active women, in offering real-life guidance."
"More and more, women have taken charge of making complex health benefits choices for their families," said Scranton. "As a mother of two young children, and with a demanding professional life and limited time, I've found Humana helps you make better quality cost and care decisions. I'm excited to come on-board as a spokesperson, share my knowledge and help others benefit from my experiences."
In February of 2005, Humana signed a four-year marketing agreement with the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour to serve as the official Health Benefits Provider. Shortly thereafter, professional golfer David Toms, who has twelve PGA Tour titles including the 2001 PGA Championship, began a marketing relationship with Humana.
