Get the Right Kind of Equipment
WEDNESDAY, 29 NOVEMBER 2006
Any serious golfer should know that the equipment is a very important part of the game if one wishes to make better shots. One should therefore buy equipment that will complement his of her game. This is what the PGA’s Director of Instruction Rick Martino discusses this week in his golf tips column.
For one, a faulty equipment makes for a bad shot. It is because that kind of equipment no longer performs the way it is expected to do which results to the golfer compensating for what it lacks. On the contrary, golfer and equipment should go hand in hand to great a good shot.
Another thing Martino talks about is something about club heads. According to him, clubs with larger faces help increase the shot accuracy of average and high-handicap golfers. However, this isn’t suitable for more experienced golfers since control of the spin and feedback is sacrificed for the accuracy of hitting the ball.
Also, Martino discusses irons later in his article. He says that irons come in two popular options, the forged one and cast irons. Forged irons are from soft steel while cast irons are made of harder steel. But while cast irons may look more durable, the feel is sacrificed in this case in favor of durability.
