The seemingly endless weeks of waiting are over for golf fans. The Ryder Cup kicks off today at the K Club in Ireland in spite of forecasts of heavy rains. But the competition is in Ireland after all so the show must go on.
As expected, Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk, the world's number 1 and 2 golfers, respectively, will be taking on Europe's best, Padraig Harrington and Colin Montgomerie for the first match. Then there's the tandem of Team Europe's Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood against Chris DiMarco and Phil Mickelson who will cap the morning fourball matches.
