Woods Wins 12th Major at Medinah
TUESDAY, 22 AUGUST 2006
Tiger Woods has moved an inch closer to tying or even surpassing Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 major championships when he won the PGA Championship on Sunday at the Medinah Country Club in Illinois. Woods' had a five-shot lead over Shaun Micheel to capture his 12th major championship. With the win, he also surpassed Walter Hagen to claim the second spot of the golfer with most majors.
The world's top golfer also won the PGA Championship in Medinah, making him the only golfer to win the tournament twice in the same venue. But with these things going for him, Woods said that he still has a long way to go before he matches Nicklaus' record. At 30 years old and with already 12 major championships under his belt, Woods just might achieve it sooner than later.
