LPGA's Prize Money Still Lower than Men's
THURSDAY, 29 JUNE 2006
Despite having high-caliber golfers who can compete with their male counterparts, the LPGA Tour's average prize money remains lower than that of the PGA's. This was according to the report published on the PGA's website.
Quoting the USGA's Executive Director David Fay, the article said that the difference in the prize money is more of a result of economics. Fay said that men's tournaments get more because it draws a larger audience and it has more entries and press coverage.
The issue cropped up because the issue of equal pay among male and female players was once again raised at the Wimbledon.
