Jang Wins Wegman's LPGA in NY
MONDAY, 26 JUNE 2006
South Korean golfer Jeong Jang overcame her nervousness throughout the tournament to capture a 13-under par in the recently concluded Wegman’s LPGA at the Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, New York.
During her interview, the winner of last year’s Weetabix Women’s British Open said that she was only able to focus on her game after her caddy told her to stop checking on her scoreboard and keep on playing instead. With her mind set on playing a good game, she managed to end the tournament with a one-shot lead over the rookie from Paraguay Julieta Granada.
With her win, the 26 year-old golfer took home $270,000 of the $1,800,000 purse. Granada then had $166,003 and Marcy Hart and Brittany Lang were tied at third to win $106,791.
