PGA's Rick Martino's Golf Tips For This Week
THURSDAY, 18 MAY 2006
For his golf tips this week, PGA Director of Instruction Rick Martino talks about how choosing the correct club head can affect the results of your game. He says that even if the clubs may look alike, their performance differs depending on their design and the golfer’s particular style.
Martino also says that while there is a considerable improvement in the club’s design over the years, it doesn’t benefit everybody. He gives an example of the contemporary clubs with larger faces. The director says that while it gives the average golfer greater accuracy in hitting the ball, “more accomplished players will find it difficult to curve the ball with these clubs, since they tend to negate the amount of spin -- especially fade or draw spin -- you can put on the ball.”
Further into the article, he gives tips on how to find help in choosing the correct club that will give you the best performance and will complement your particular swinging style.
