Jaidee Gets Masters Invite

Thai golfer Thongchai Jaidee recently received an special invitation by the Masters Committee for this year's Masters Tournament. His participation in this year's Masters will mark the first time that a Thailand-born golfer to compete at this major that will be held on April 3-9.
The former paratrooper for Royal Thai Army will join 103 other golfers in vying for the honor of wearing the famous green jacket, an icon that is closely associated with the Masters. First, there are the champions of the past Masters including Tiger Woods, Nick Faldo and Vijay Singh.
Jaidee, who turned professional late at age 30, has finished among the top three of the Asian Tour's Order of Merit. He topped it two years ago in 2004 and finished 2nd last year.
Before taking up golf, Jaidee was into football and even represented his home province in various football tournaments. Having started playing golf with a three iron head with a bamboo stick for its handle, he has continued winning tournaments in Asia and become the first Thai player to win an event on the PGA tour.
