Golf Clubs - Types
There are basically Three Types of Golf Clubs: the Woods, the Irons and the Putter. Each Golf Club is designed for a particular type of Golf Shot and for a certain distance. Some are designed with more Loft, more Accuracy or more Distance. In this section, you will learn the Characteristics of the Irons, the Woods and the Putter which will guide you in choosing the Golf Club for a specific shot or part of the Golf Course.

Golf Clubs - Woods
Woods are long Golf Clubs with little loft that are used for greater distances. Manufacturers nowadays, however, use titanium or steel to make these woods. The Woods usually consist of the Driver and the Fairway Woods: Three Wood and Five Wood.

Golf Clubs - Irons
The Irons are typically used for shorter distances and for play from the Hazards. Irons usually consist of the Irons 3-9 a Sand Wedge and a Pitching Wedge. Irons are designed for short, accurate Golf Shots. Read here for more information.

Golf Clubs - Putters
The Putter is used for Putting and finishing the Hole. Putters are generally either a Blade Putter or a Mallet Putter. It is good to use only one Putter and get comfortable playing with it before experimenting with other Putters.

Golf Clubs are essential Golf Equipment, that's why it is also necessary to know their functions, their characteristics and all the other complex things about the Golf Club. Golf Clubs are categorized as Woods, Irons and the Putter. The Driver is actually 1-Wood and designed with the greatest distance. The average distance of a shot with the Driver is 220 yards.
The Woods are designed with more distance and less accuracy in mind. The Three-Woods have an average distance of 200 yards and Five-Woods has around 180 yards. Meanwhile, Irons are used to take more accurate shots. Pitching Wedges and Sand Wedges are used to take shots from the Bunker to make sure that your ball really gets out of trouble and not falls into another hazard.
Once you are on the Green, it is time to use the Putter. The Putter is also called Money Club since it is responsible to get the ball inside the Hole, thus making you close the Hole and hopefully win the game.
