Golf Course Map
As discussed in the Golf Course Parts section, each Hole of the Golf Course has different elements to make the holes differ from each other. The configuration of tee boxes, fairway, green, hole, rough, bunkers, water hazards and trees are specific for each hole and challenge the Golf Player with every changing conditions. As explained each regular Golf Course consists of 18 different Holes (or 9 for a short Golf Course) and together these 18 holes form one Round of Golf.
To help you find your way on the Golf Course you will typically receive a score card with the details and distances of each map. Often you will also receive a little map like the one shown here that gives an overview of the entire Golf Course. These Golf Maps come in all kinds of variations and range from very detailed to very schematic. Using the Golf Map and the Hole specifications given on the score card you can find and prepare yourself for each hole.
A Golf Course Map typically shows you the following:
- The location of the Tee Boxes, Fairways, Greens and Holes of each course. Even when the map is not very detailed it will still tell you the most important things like the direction of play and the general location of fairways, greens and hazards.
- The location of the club house, pathways, snackbars, restroom, service areas, restaurants and all other amenities that you might find on the golf course
For you to understand the basics of a Golf Course and the different parts and obstacles in it, you should consult the Golf Course Map. Maps contain a detailed description of the Golf Course, as well as its different elements. Having an idea about the Golf Course will surely help you find and prepare for each hole.
