I'm just curious...

How well do you understand the golf swing?

Intimately. But  do not mess about with your swing when you are playing well, unless your coach so advises. Work on technique under supervision and analysis of your swing in slo. mo. is absolutely vital.  When things fall apart (it happens to all of us) check your current filmed swing  alongside your filmed swing when you were hitting well. It makes it easier to find faults and correct them. Every serious player is constantly working with slo. mo.

If you want to hit long then a radar swing speed meter is essential. I also have 'The Tour Tempo Player' and other gadgets which enable me to have a better chance of swinging consistently. Even then I sometimes fall apart when under the cosh in final play offs.

You cannot see what you are doing yourself and your coach will not always be there. Self help is essential and such can only be properly undertaken with input from objective equipment.   Such provides a vital 'second set of eyes.'
